Paula

The famous ébeniste André Charles Boulle embellished his furniture designs with a gilt bronze lobster, but this door knocker applies a New Orleans lens to the iconic decorative motif: the Paula takes shape as a crawfish. Named for a server at Frankie and Johnny’s restaurant Uptown, the knocker embodies the calm and cool optimism of its namesake. Paula is one of many who look after the students, tourists, and locals in the Big Easy. With its capacity for regeneration and intuition, this fresh water-living crawfish is both resilient and endlessly resourceful, traits shared by the always inspiring and energetic city on the banks of the Mississippi.
