Out of the Ashes

“My explorations with metal started as result of disaster.  Our home was struck by lightning and destroyed by fire in 2013. It was devastating, but we decided to rebuild. And that overwhelming, exhausting process led me back to my abiding love for the decorative arts.

When the construction got underway, I became particularly enthralled with hardware, the final touches that act as jewelry for the home. This began my artistic journey into the lost wax process.

As ideas percolated, I collected images and stories, traveled to Paris to examine Heurtoirs de Porte through the Saint-Germain neighborhood, and studied the subtle, timeless decorative and artistic moments that resonate in museums, historic houses, and majestic old cities.

Stay tuned as AGATHA finds her voice, and join me in celebrating a body of work that is emerging out of the ashes.”
